The Shri Shiv Prasad Gupta (SSPG) Hospital in Kashi will be upgraded into a state-of-the-art facility with an estimated investment of 351.48 INR-Crore. The State Cabinet, on Tuesday, January 6, gave final approval for the construction of this 500-bed super-speciality hospital within four years.
Currently, SSPG Hospital caters mainly to patients from the old city and nearby districts. The transformation is expected to ease the healthcare burden in the region. Of the total budget, 60% will come from the Center, while the remaining will be funded by the State Government. Work will be completed in three phases, following the tendering process.
In the first phase, 50% of the existing structure will be demolished. New buildings will be constructed for admissions, labs, indoor patient departments, dialysis units, operation theatres, ICUs, OPDs, and emergency services.

Moreover, the hospital building will include two basements and ground plus eight storeys. A separate ground plus 12-storey building will be developed for residential purposes.
Officials said the first and second phases are targeted for completion in 18 months each. Once the tender process is finalized, the exact completion date will be announced. The upgraded SSPG Hospital will further provide advanced healthcare facilities and strengthen medical infrastructure in Kashi.
