Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation Ltd (TIDCO) on Friday, February 20, signed four Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with private companies to strengthen the state’s aerospace and defence manufacturing ecosystem. The agreements collectively cost an estimated 1,600 INR-Crore. The pacts aim to expand high-precision manufacturing capacity and create skilled employment in the sector.

The four MoUs span multiple aerospace and defence sub-sectors. PMI Engineering Exports will invest 500 INR-Crore to set up a precision aerospace manufacturing facility. SIMVAYU has committed 600 INR-Crore for establishing a high-tech aviation training and simulation center in Chennai. Meanwhile, an ammunition manufacturing investment by Tychon Global Systems is valued at 500 INR-Crore. Inbound Aerospace, an IIT-Madras startup, will also launch an advanced aerospace manufacturing facility. The unit will focus on recoverable and reusable spacecraft components. It will also manufacture satellite solar panels and related systems. Collectively, the four investments are expected to generate around 1,900 jobs.

Under the agreements, the precision aerospace facility will produce high-tolerance components using advanced CNC machining. It will work with materials such as titanium, inconel, and nickel-based superalloys. The output will serve both civil and defence applications. Meanwhile, the aviation training center will feature Level-D Full Flight Simulators for Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. It will offer aerospace certification programmes. Additionally, it will provide simulator engineering support, R&D services, and drone simulation modules. The ammunition plant will further enhance ordnance production capacity in Thoothukudi. In parallel, the Inbound Aerospace facility will focus on clean-room assembly operations. It will also develop integrated avionics systems for orbital and sub-orbital vehicles.

These aerospace defence MoUs together are expected to foster employment across engineering, simulation operations, assembly and technical services.
