Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL) will invest an estimated 1,200 INR-Crore to build an 80 MW FDRE project in Mumbai. The company has signed a power purchase agreement with Tata Power Mumbai Distribution. The project will generate around 315 Million Units of electricity each year. It will also cut over 0.25 million tons of carbon emissions, supporting clean and sustainable energy.
The Tata Power Mumbai project will be completed in 24 months. It will use solar, wind, and battery storage to supply 4 hours of reliable peak power with 90% availability. Once ready, the clean energy will be fed into Tata Power Mumbai Distribution, supplying electricity to around 8 lakh homes, businesses, and industries.

This 80 MW FDRE project significantly expands TPREL’s renewable capacity, which currently totals 11.3 GW. By combining multiple renewable sources with dispatchable energy storage, the initiative will strengthen grid stability, reduce the carbon footprint, and support Mumbai’s growing energy needs.
