Tata Power Renewable Energy to invest 6,675 INR-Crore in 10 GW Ingot & Wafer Plant in Nellore

Tata Power Renewable Energy (TPREL) will set up a greenfield 10 GW ingot and wafer manufacturing plant at Nellore, Andhra Pradesh. The project, valued at an estimated 6,675 INR-Crore, will be the largest of its kind in India.

The State Government has earmarked an anticipated 200 Acres at the Iffco Kisan Special Economic Zone for the facility. Of this, 120 Acres will be used for the project, while 80 Acres are reserved for future expansion. The Tata Power ingot & wafer plant in Nellore aligns with the Center’s policy to promote domestic solar manufacturing and reduce dependence on China for critical components.

The State Investment Promotion Board, led by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, cleared the project on Tuesday, January 6. To ensure sustainable operations, Andhra Pradesh will also allot TPREL a site for a 200 MW captive green energy plant. This will supply renewable power directly to the manufacturing facility. According to the company’s detailed report, the Tata Power ingot & wafer plant in Nellore will generate about 1,000 employment opportunities.
