The Center recently approved three mega highway projects to decongest Delhi and the National Capital Region. The construction of the same was discussed in a meeting held between Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. The overall estimated cost of the three projects is 14,850 INR-Crore

The Delhi-Amritsar-Katra National Expressway (NE-5) will be extended from the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Expressway to the Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II), as part of one of the three mega highway projects. It will ease travel for vehicles from Jammu & Kashmir, Haryana, and Punjab heading to Central and Western India. The estimated cost of the project is 4,000 INR-Crore.

The construction of a new 17 Km highway connecting Urban Extension Road II (UER 2) to the Delhi-Dehradun expressway near Tronica City has also been approved.
