UPMRC floats 492 INR-Crore tender for elevated stations on Metro’s Second Corridor

The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) has floated a tender worth an estimated 492.22 INR-Crore for the construction of five elevated stations on the city’s second metro corridor. The tender marks the beginning of Phase 1B of the ongoing network expansion.

According to the tender document, the project involves designing and constructing an elevated viaduct stretching approximately 4.6 Km from Thakurganj to Vasantkunj. The scope includes:

  • Construction of five elevated stations — Thakurganj, Balaganj, Sarfarazganj, Musabagh, and Vasantkunj
  • A 740 M ramp connecting the main line to the depot
  • Civil structures, architectural finishes, and pre-engineered buildings
  • Water supply, drainage, and fire-fighting systems
  • Complete electrical and mechanical installations

UPMRC has set an ambitious completion timeline of 30 months from the project’s start date. Tender documents were made available on the government e-portal from January 1, with the submission window closing on February 2. Technical bids will be opened on February 3, following a detailed and rigorous evaluation process.

The second corridor spans a total length of 11.165 Km, consisting of 4.286 Km of elevated track and 6.879 km of underground sections. It will also feature 12 metro stations, including seven underground and five elevated. The estimated cost of the entire project stands at 5,801 INR-Crore, with completion expected within five years. Moreover, the UPMRC elevated stations will ease passenger movement, reduce traffic congestion, and strengthen sustainable mobility in the city.
