Vardhman Special Steels Limited (VSSL) has announced an estimated 2,500 INR-Crore investment to establish a state-of-the-art steel plant in Ludhiana. The company will set up this project in collaboration with Japan’s Aichi Steel Corporation. The proposed greenfield facility will focus on producing alloy and special steels for domestic and global automotive markets.
The Vardhman plant in Ludhiana will have an installed capacity of 5 Lakh Tonnes per Annum. Furthermore, it will adopt the Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) route to ensure energy efficiency and reduced carbon emissions. A dedicated 500 INR-Crore solar power plant will also be developed to meet the facility’s energy needs. This will further reinforce the company’s commitment to sustainability and clean steel production.

The Vardhman Ludhiana project is expected to generate over 1,500 direct jobs and create significant indirect employment across MSMEs, logistics, and service sectors. Meanwhile, the facility will be built on the “Toyota Way” layout, emphasizing operational excellence, safety, and global manufacturing standards.
