The Board of Directors of Websol Energy System on Monday, September 01, approved a phased capacity expansion through its wholly owned subsidiary. The project will be located in West Bengal and include 4 GW solar cells and 4 GW solar modules. The plan will require about 3,000 INR-Crore investment.

Websol Energy System already runs Phase I with a 600 MW solar cell line and a 550 MW solar module line at Falta, West Bengal. Currently, the solar cell line operates at nearly 90% utilisation. Further, the company funded these lines through internal accruals, preferential equity, and loans from financial institutions. Meanwhile, Websol will also start Phase II, an additional 600 MW solar cell line at Falta, by October 2025, and thus, the total solar cell capacity will rise to 1.2 GW.

By June 2028, under Phase IV, Websol will again add 2 GW solar cell and 2 GW solar module lines. Furthermore, the company will finance this capacity expansion by combining internal accruals and loans.
