In a major step toward industrial growth, the Odisha Govt, during the 43rd High-Level Clearance Authority (HLCA) meeting on Thursday, January 8, approved seven large projects worth an estimated 55,783 INR-Crore. These projects are expected to generate around 14,507 jobs, reinforcing the government’s focus on investment-led growth and balanced regional development.
The steel sector dominated approvals. Saffron Resources Pvt Ltd, a JSW Group company, received clearance for a 35,000 INR-Crore integrated steel plant with a capacity of 6 Million Tonnes per annum at Dhenkanal. This mega project alone is expected to create about 8,000 jobs, consolidating Odisha’s position as a major steel hub.
In advanced manufacturing, Jindal Poly Films Limited secured approval for a 12,000 INR-Crore Titanium Dioxide Pigment unit in Ganjam district under the rare earth processing category. The project will generate nearly 4,000 jobs. The power sector also received a boost. GMR Kamalanga Energy Limited will set up a 350 MW thermal power plant in Dhenkanal with an investment of 2,136.02 INR-Crore. The project will create around 300 jobs.

In the ferroalloys sector, Ferro Alloys Corporation Limited received clearance for a 2,000 INR-Crore project in Keonjhar. It will involve ferro manganese and silico manganese production, ore beneficiation, and a 100 MW captive power plant. The project is expected to generate about 772 jobs.
The automobiles and auto-components sector saw a reputed company propose a 1,697 INR-Crore investment in Ganjam. The project will manufacture tyres, carbon black, and zinc oxide, creating approximately 685 jobs. Odisha’s semiconductor ecosystem gained momentum with approval for Sancode Semi Pvt Ltd. The company will set up an OSAT unit in Khordha district at an investment of 1,649.98 INR-Crore. In the industrial gases segment, Inox Air Products Pvt Ltd will invest 1,300 INR-Crore to establish an air separation unit in Dhenkanal.
These Odisha Projects approved by the Govt align with the national vision of “Viksit Bharat by 2047.” They will further drive inclusive growth, create employment, and ensure sustainable industrial development across the state.
