BBCL to redevelop Theyagaraja theater into 500 INR-Crore commercial project in Chennai

BBCL has signed a joint development agreement with the Theyagaraja family to redevelop the iconic Theyagaraja Theater property in Tiruvanmiyur, Chennai. The mixed-use commercial project carries an estimated Gross Development Value (GDV) of 500 INR-Crore. It will be developed on the nearly 1 Acre site along Lattice Bridge Road (LB Road).

The Theyagaraja Theatre redevelopment will comprise retail spaces, office developments, and a modern multiplex. The project will have a construction area of over 2 Lakh-SqFt, subject to statutory approvals. Furthermore, the cinema will continue to operate after redevelopment and will be managed by the Theyagaraja family. BBCL will undertake the commercial development under the joint development agreement.

Once completed, the Theyagaraja Theater redevelopment will strengthen commercial infrastructure in South Chennai. It will also support the transformation of legacy cinema properties into mixed-use urban developments while retaining the site’s entertainment function.
