The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved the establishment of 57 new Kendriya Vidyalayas across India with a total estimated outlay of 5,862.55 INR-Crore. These schools will also have Balvatikas, a three-year pre-primary stage. This will ensure a strong start for children of Central Government employees.
The new Kendriya Vidyalayas will receive 2,585.52 INR-Crore for capital and 3,277.03 INR-Crore for operational costs over nine years, starting from 2026-27. They will be established in 17 states and union territories, including districts that currently do not have a Kendriya Vidyalaya.

Among these, 14 Kendriya Vidyalayas will be in aspirational districts, 4 in LWE areas, and 5 in NER/hilly regions. Seven schools will be sponsored by the Ministry of Home Affairs, while the remaining will be developed by the states and UTs. This initiative strengthens the Kendriya Vidyalaya network, which currently has 1,288 schools, including three abroad. With 13.62 Lakh students enrolled as of June 2025. The new KVs will bring quality education to underserved areas.
