Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan laid the foundation stone for a 398 INR-Crore organ transplant hospital. The institute will become the country’s first dedicated centre for advanced transplant care. It will replace the existing skin disease hospital at Chevayoor.
The Kerala Institute of Organ Transplantation will come up on an anticipated 20 Acres site at Chevayoor in Kozhikode. The first construction phase will cost around 299 INR-Crore, while the state has earmarked 99 INR-Crore for advanced medical equipment.

Additionally, the facility will house modern operating theatres, intensive care units, transplant labs, and recovery wards. The organ transplant project will strengthen public healthcare across the state and reduce reliance on private hospitals and treatment outside Kerala.
