On Tuesday, June 24, the State cabinet approved the allocation of 20,787 INR-Crore for the Nagpur-Goa Shaktipeeth Expressway. This 802.6 Km long expressway will connect Pawnar (Wardha district) from the east and Patra Devi (Sindhudurga district) from the west.
Shaktipeeth Expressway will connect 12 districts of the state. These are Wardha, Yavatmal, Beed, Hingoli, Nanded, Parbhani, Latur, Dharashiv, Solapur, Sangli, Kolhapur, and Sindhudurga. It will later connect to the Konkan Expressway on the border of Goa and Maharashtra.

The construction of the Shaktipeeth expressway will reduce the travel time from Nagpur to Goa from 18 hours to 8 hours. HUDCO has approved a loan of 12,000 INR-Crore for the land acquisition for this project. Out of the total 8,000 Hectares (Ha) of land needed, 7,500 Hectares (Ha) of land will be acquired from this fund. The entire project will be implemented by the Maharashtra Road Development Corporation(MSRDC). This project is an attempt to connect the Shakti Peethas of Maharashtra, and the aim of it is to boost tourism and transport.
