Sankla Buildcoon, through its clean-energy platform Sankla Renewables, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Maharashtra Government to develop a Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) manufacturing project. The estimated 15,000 INR-Crore facility will be set up at Chalisgaon in Jalgaon district and was formalized during the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
The project marks the Group’s strategic expansion from real estate-led value creation into infrastructure-grade clean energy assets. Chalisgaon was chosen for its geopolitical advantages. The proposed SAF facility will convert agricultural residue feedstock into aviation-grade sustainable fuel. Inputs will include sugarcane bagasse, cotton stalks, soybean husk, and pigeon pea waste. Moreover, the facility will use internationally certified conversion technologies to ensure high-quality output. It will be commissioned in phases through 2029 to ensure capital-efficient deployment and risk-managed scale-up further.

The Sankla SAF manufacturing project in Maharashtra is designed to meet global ESG benchmarks and emerging climate change criteria. It further embeds rural economic participation by creating a formal market for local economies. Meanwhile, farmers will benefit from long-term feedstock procurement contracts, incremental rural income streams, and a reduction in open-field residue burning.
