CM Mohan Charan Majhi held discussions with Anil Agarwal, Chairman, Vedanta Group on Wednesday, May 27, to accelerate the Odisha mega projects across Rayagada and Dhenkanal districts. The proposed projects involve investments of over 1 Lakh INR-Crore and will focus on aluminium, power and downstream industrial infrastructure development in Odisha.
The proposed investments include a 60 Lakh Tonne alumina refinery in Rayagada district and a 30 Lakh Tonne aluminium smelter in Dhenkanal district. Additionally, the company plans to develop a 6000 MW power project in Dhenkanal along with an integrated downstream aluminium park. The proposed industrial ecosystem will also include coal and bauxite-linked infrastructure. According to officials, land allocation for key project components has already been completed, while supporting infrastructure development is progressing.

The Vedanta Odisha mega projects will strengthen Odisha’s aluminium manufacturing ecosystem and industrial infrastructure capacity. Additionally, the projects are expected to support MSME growth, generate large-scale employment and expand industrial activity across central and southern Odisha.
