The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet has approved an estimated 3,960.09 INR-Crore for four-laning the 91.64 Km Seoni-Balaghat section of State Highway-7. The project will develop the corridor as a four-lane road with paved shoulders under the hybrid annuity model. The route connects the two districts and provides links towards Nagpur, Gondia, Mandla and Bhandara.
The project will upgrade the Seoni-Balaghat section into a four-lane corridor with paved shoulders. It will improve connectivity between Balaghat’s mining and trading centers and nearby markets. The approved project and financial cost stands at 3,960.09 INR-Crore and 3,548.93 INR-Crore, respectively. The state will provide 474.38 INR-Crore, while 2,253.39 INR-Crore will be paid through half-yearly annuities from the state budget over a 15-year operational period. Additionally, 501.16 INR-Crore has been approved for land acquisition, supervision and other pre-construction works.

The Seoni-Balaghat Highway will strengthen road connectivity across eastern Madhya Pradesh. Further, the upgraded corridor will support faster movement of agricultural produce and minerals to markets. The route will also improve connectivity with neighboring Maharashtra and provide access to major district roads and regional markets.
