The Andhra Pradesh Government has approved the Gandikota-2 pumped storage project for development in YSR Kadapa district. Adani Green Energy will develop the project through its subsidiary, Adani Hydro Energy Eleven Ltd. Authorities approved the allocation under the Andhra Pradesh Integrated Clean Energy Policy 2024 on Wednesday, May 20.
The proposed pumped storage facility will have a planned capacity of 2,250 MW. It is expected to become one of the largest pumped storage projects in the country. The development will include hydroelectric and energy storage infrastructure designed to support renewable power integration and grid balancing. Additionally, the project will strengthen long-duration energy storage capacity in Andhra Pradesh. The government has set a development timeline of 72 months for the project.

The Gandikota-2 pumped storage project will support Andhra Pradesh’s clean energy infrastructure expansion. It will also strengthen grid stability and renewable energy storage capacity in the state.
