CM Mohan Charan Majhi laid the foundation stone for the 18.326 Km Barbil bypass ring road on Monday, April 13. The Barbil bypass ring road project will be developed at an estimated cost of 1,581.21 INR-Crore in Keonjhar district, Odisha. The project forms part of a larger infrastructure push that includes multiple road and utility investments across the district.
The Barbil bypass ring road aims to ease traffic congestion and improve heavy vehicle movement in mining zones. Additionally, authorities inaugurated 24 projects worth 29.41 INR-Crore and laid foundation stones for 51 projects worth 326.43 INR-Crore in Keonjhar district.
Power infrastructure projects were also announced, including substations in Joda, Basudevpur, and Barbil at a cost of 298 INR-Crore. Road projects include an 8-lane Barbil–Paradip corridor, a 10 Km Bamebari–Palasa–Guruda–Koida road worth 95 INR-Crore, and a 7.5 Km Suakati–Dubuna–Kalima road worth 30 INR-Crore. Additionally, authorities will upgrade a 5.5 Km Palaspanga–Bamebari road at 30 INR-Crore. Other works include the development of sports infrastructure at Barbil Utsav Ground and bus stand upgrades worth 9.27 INR-Crore.

Further, the government has planned large-scale infrastructure projects across Odisha. These include a 287 Km expressway between Berhampur and Jeypore with an investment of 9,000 INR-Crore. Additional projects include the Namo Expressway and the Atal Expressway to strengthen east-west connectivity. A grid substation project worth 1,647 INR-Crore has also been approved for Keonjhar.
Once completed, the Barbil bypass ring road will improve regional connectivity and support mining logistics. It will also contribute to broader infrastructure growth across Keonjhar district and Odisha.
