The Union Government has approved a 48 Km greenfield highway connecting Nizampatnam fishing harbour to the proposed Amaravati Outer Ring Road (ORR). This project aims to enhance marine exports and tourism in the region.
The estimated cost is 1,400 INR-Crore, with 300 INR-Crore allocated for land acquisition and the rest for construction and infrastructure. A consultancy agency conducted an in-depth study over several months. They proposed four alignments for the greenfield highway, considering land acquisition costs, economic feasibility, and distance. The highway will cross a river and canals at 24 points, including a railway track near Tsundur. To address this, the agency recommended a Rail Over Bridge (ROB) at the railway crossing and high-level bridges at canal points.

Furthermore, the project is expected to transform the backward coastal area. Improved connectivity will drive economic growth by facilitating faster transport of marine products and boosting tourism. The greenfield highway aligns with regional development goals, ensuring sustainable progress.
