Union Cabinet approves 3,653 INR-Crore Badvel-Nellore Corridor in Andhra Pradesh

The Union Cabinet has greenlit the Badvel-Nellore Corridor, a significant infrastructure project in Andhra Pradesh, with an estimated investment of 3,653.10 INR-Crore. This 108.134 Km, four-lane corridor on National Highway 67 aims to boost connectivity and economic growth.

The Badvel-Nellore Corridor will be developed under the design-build-finance-operate-transfer (DBFOT) model. It will connect key industrial nodes, including Kopparthy on the Vishakhapatnam-Chennai Industrial Corridor, Orvakal on the Hyderabad-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor, and Krishnapatnam on the Chennai-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor. Additionally, the corridor will enhance India’s Logistics Performance Index by improving transport efficiency.

Furthermore, the project will shorten the travel distance to Krishnapatnam port by 33.9 Km, reducing the journey from 142 Km to 108.13 Km. The project is expected to create substantial employment opportunities. It will generate 2 million man-days of direct employment and 2.3 million man-days of indirect employment. Meanwhile, the corridor will reduce the carbon footprint, aligning with sustainable development goals.
