JSW Infrastructure has secured an estimated 740 INR-Crore contract to upgrade the Kolkata Port. The project was awarded by the Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port Authority. It includes rebuilding Berth 8 and mechanising Berths 7 and 8 at Netaji Subhas Dock.
The JSW Kolkata Port project follows a public-private partnership model. It comes with a 30-year concession period. Construction is expected to take two years. However, operations will begin during the build phase.

This move aligns with JSW’s strategy to expand its terminal portfolio. It also supports the government’s port privatisation initiative. Moreover, the project will boost container handling capacity and efficiency. Additionally, JSW aims to diversify its cargo mix. The company already operates a terminal at New Mangalore. With Kolkata, the total capacity is nearing 1 Million-TEUs.
