The Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) expansion in Bhubaneswar has received a major boost with an estimated 1000 INR-Crore redesign plan. Terminal 3 (T3) will now serve as an integrated facility for both arrivals and departures.
The new T3 will span 65,000 SqM. It will handle 86 Lakh passengers annually. During peak hours, it can manage 3,000 travellers. Moreover, the redesign includes six new aerobridges. This will ease aircraft movement and reduce delays. Earlier, authorities had proposed a split-terminal model. However, after stakeholder consultations, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) opted for a unified design.

Notably, the Bhubaneswar Airport expansion will use land adjacent to Terminal 1. This ensures minimal disruption to current operations. Additionally, the integrated terminal will improve passenger convenience. It will also streamline logistics and reduce operational costs. Once complete, the integrated T3 terminal will redefine air travel in eastern India.
