The Andhra Pradesh Government has approved an estimated 489.28 INR-Crore for the long-pending Muktyala Lift Irrigation scheme. The project will irrigate nearly 39,000 Acres across Nandigama and Jaggayyapet mandals in NTR district. It will also supply drinking water to nearly 30 villages.
The Muktyala Lift Irrigation system will lift 2.7 TMC of water from the Krishna River. Moreover, it will operate 16 hours daily for 120 days, discharging 386.27 Cusecs. Meanwhile, the intake point lies 4 Km downstream of the Pulichintala Project.

Initially sanctioned in 2019 under the TDP regime, the project was later shifted and renamed by the YSRCP Government. Despite a foundation stone in 2020, construction stalled. Now, the original plan has been revived under CM Chandrababu Naidu. On July 18, the project was included among 71 irrigation works cleared for continuation.
