The Kanpur Development Authority (KDA) has approved an estimated 700 INR-Crore road expansion projects aimed at decongesting the city and boosting regional connectivity. The initiative includes the construction and widening of six major roads, with 420 INR-Crore allocated for land acquisition and 280 INR-Crore for construction.

Key routes under the plan include the 8.9 Km Mandhana–Bhaunti Road, upgraded at a cost of 425 INR-Crore, and the 5 km Kanpur–Jhansi Road, receiving 105 INR-Crore for upgradation. Additionally, two connecting roads from Barrage to Mainavati Marg, each under 1 Km, will be built. These are estimated to cost 40 INR-Crore. Additional routes include Bingawan–Arra Road and Barra–Vishwa Bank Road, both part of a 90 INR-Crore allocation.

The Kanpur road expansion project aligns with the city’s 2051 master plan, which envisions an estimated 37,000 INR-Crore in infrastructure investment. It supports industrial growth and the development of Greater Kanpur. Surveys have already begun, combining satellite mapping and on-ground verification. Moreover, land markings are underway, and acquisition is set to begin shortly. Meanwhile, KDA officials are expediting blueprint preparation to keep the project on track.
