The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has started the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Kochi Outer Ring Road. This marks a key step in expanding the city’s infrastructure. The corridor will link Kodungallur on NH 66 to Angamaly on NH 544, covering about 20 Km of greenfield alignment.

The proposed design features a six-lane bypass and a four-lane extension. Authorities aim to finalize the DPR in the coming months, enabling faster execution once approvals and clearances are obtained. By improving connectivity and reducing travel times, the Kochi Outer Ring Road will strengthen regional transportation.

Once completed, the project will integrate with the 44.7 Km Kundannoor–Angamaly bypass, forming a continuous semi-circular ring road around Kochi to enhance urban mobility. The initiative is designed to enhance traffic flow in northern suburbs like North Paravur, Puthenvelikkara, and Angamaly. Furthermore, it will support planned urban development while efficiently utilizing the city’s western corridor near the coastline.
