NTPC, NPCIL to invest 42,000 INR-Crore in 2,800 MW nuclear power plant in Rajasthan

Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for a major nuclear power project in Rajasthan, giving a strong push to India’s clean energy sector. The first project, the Mahi Banswara Rajasthan Atomic Power Project (MBRAPP), will be developed with an estimated investment of 42,000 INR-Crore.

The project is a joint venture between National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) and Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL). Furthermore, it will have a capacity of 2,800 MW and stand among the largest nuclear power plants in the country. Additionally, the Avaada Group received foundation stone approvals for two major projects in the state. The first is a 1,560 MWp solar project with 2,500 MWh storage at Pugal. Meanwhile, the second is a 200 MW (282 MWp) solar project at Dungargarh.

Together, these projects represent an investment of over 9,200 INR-Crore. They are expected to create around 1,600 green jobs in the state. The projects will also cut nearly 20 Lakh-Tonnes of carbon emissions every year and save about 600 Lakh-Liters of water through robotic cleaning systems.
