The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) recently submitted the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the road widening project in Anakapalli. The DPR was prepared for the Anakapalli–Annavaram–Diwancheruvu section, which begins at DIET College in Anakapalli. Moreover, the route covers 68.645 Km in Anakapalli, about 81 Km in Kakinada (through Tuni, Prathipadu, Jaggampeta, and other mandals), and 11 Km in East Godavari, ending at Diwancheruvu near Rajahmundry.

The Anakapalli road widening project will cost an estimated 3,800 INR-Crore. Consequently, authorities will begin tenders once the government approves the DPR. In Anakapalli district, authorities will build four river bridges at strategic locations, along with three flyovers and three rail-cum-road bridges.

Additionally, the Anakapalli district will see 67 new structures, while Kakinada will have 103 structures. These include pipe culverts, box culverts, and major and minor bridges. The scope of work also includes repairing old bridges, culverts, and other structures. Meanwhile, new bridges, culverts, and supporting structures will ensure durability and traffic efficiency. The authorities have already completed the six-lane stretch from Srikakulam to Anakapalli and from Rajahmundry to Vijayawada.
