Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah laid the foundation stone for the GIDC road project on Thursday, October 23. The project, estimated at 805 INR-Crore, will upgrade the 28.8 Km Ahmedabad–Maliya Road from Shantipura Crossroads to Khoraj GIDC into a six-lane highway.
The project will include 22.7 Km of service roads on both sides and the widening of 13 minor bridges. It will also feature a six-lane elevated flyover, a three-lane right-turn flyover, and five new underpasses at Ullaria, Telav, Sanand GIDC Gate, and Khoraj GIDC. Additionally, 172 culverts will be built or upgraded to improve connectivity. Once completed, the project will boost access to industrial hubs like Sanand and Viramgam and enhance travel to Surendranagar, Shankheshwar, Radhanpur, and Patan.
