The Delhi Public Works Department (PWD) is preparing to begin redevelopment work on the 55 Km Mahatma Gandhi Road Corridor, commonly known as Ring Road. To move the initiative forward, the government has appointed AECOM India Pvt Ltd to prepare the Detailed Project Report (DPR), a major step toward building a safer and smarter transport corridor for Delhi.
The redevelopment of the Delhi Ring Road will take place in six phases to ensure smooth execution. Initially, the stretches include Azadpur Flyover (Mandi) – Hanuman Temple (ISBT): 9.5 Km; Chandgi Ram Akhara – Majnu Ka Tilla (Outer Ring Road): 2.5 Km; Hanuman Temple (ISBT) – DND Flyover: 11.5 Km; DND Flyover – Moti Bagh Metro Station: 10.5 Km; Moti Bagh Metro Station – Rajouri Garden: 10 Km; and Rajouri Garden – Pacific Mall, Pitampura – Azadpur Flyover: 13.5 Km.

Meanwhile, AECOM India will complete the DPR within 24 weeks. The study will cover traffic analysis, surveys, and environmental checks. The plan also aims to link the corridor with metro and public transport networks for better last-mile connectivity. It will include underpasses, pedestrian zones, and cycle tracks, along with upgraded lighting and smart traffic systems.
