The Maharashtra Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) worth an estimated 28,000 INR-Crore with GSC PSP Maha Pvt Ltd for the Panchmauli-Devalipada Pumped Storage Hydroelectric Project in Dhule and Nandurbar districts. The agreement, signed in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis marks a significant milestone in the state’s renewable energy expansion.
The Panchmauli-Devalipada Maharashtra hydroelectric project will use 19.29 TMC of water for initial storage. It will also require 3.24 TMC of water each year for replenishment. To keep the project on schedule, the state will set up a fast-track system for water and environmental clearances. This initiative also highlights Maharashtra’s strong focus on sustainable energy and modern infrastructure.

He also mentioned Asia’s largest solar energy project, designed to produce 16 Gigawatts (GW) of distributed solar power for agriculture. Across the state, 51 hydro projects are now planned, expected to generate 70,315 MW and attract investments worth 23.83 Lakh INR-Crore. Through these initiatives, Maharashtra is steadily building a greener, stronger, and self-reliant energy future.
