Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd has invited bids for preparing the Namma Metro Tumakuru DPR, marking a significant step toward Karnataka’s first inter-city Metro link. The 59.6 Km Green Line extension is estimated to cost 18,670 INR-Crore and has been cleared under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. The tender carries an EMD of 4.5 Lakh INR-Crore and will remain open until November 20. Since the DPR will outline the project’s technical and financial plan, BMRCL expects the preparation work to take 4–5 months after the contractor is finalized.

The corridor will include 25 elevated stations and will start near BIEC in Madavara. It will pass through key areas such as Nelamangala, Dabaspete, and Kyathasandra before reaching Tumakuru. A feasibility study submitted in May confirmed strong demand and received state approval. This approval allows the project to move smoothly into the DPR stage. BMRCL will set the construction timelines after it completes the DPR, showing steady progress toward launching the inter-city Metro link.

The extension will improve daily travel as trains run every 4–5 minutes. This will offer a reliable alternative to road journeys. BMRCL estimates that the corridor can handle nearly 15,000 passengers per hour in each direction. Meanwhile, as work on the Namma Metro Tumakuru DPR progresses, the project moves ahead with a positive outlook. This phase strengthens plans for a smooth and faster link between Bengaluru and Tumakuru.
