Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi laid the foundation stone for major development projects on Sunday, December 7, marking a significant push for Odisha Keonjhar development. He also initiated an estimated 312 INR-Crore project to develop the Maa Tarini shrine in Ghatagaon. The project, to be completed within a year, aims to transform the shrine into a world-class religious and tourist destination. The development work, spread over 60 Acres, will include a 216-bed pilgrim residence, a pilgrim center, an explanation center, a food plaza, a watch tower, a market complex, a coconut warehouse, and a prasad hall for 500 people.
The CM also announced several other high-impact projects in Keonjhar, detailing the investments clearly:
- Four-lane ring road in Barbil: 2,300 INR-Crore
- Bypass road in Keonjhar: 428 INR-Crore
- Data Recovery Center at Dharanidhar University campus: 187 INR-Crore
- Keonjhar Stadium: 180 INR-Crore
- Road to district headquarters hospital: 168 INR-Crore
- Tech Park: 168 INR-Crore
- Textile Park in Balabhadrapur: 150 INR-Crore
- Data Center by OKAC: 150 INR-Crore
- Raisuan Airstrip: 103 INR-Crore
- Regional Plant Research Center at Sanaghagara: 50 INR-Crore
- Mega steel plant: Investment not yet disclosed

The central Government is also building an eight-lane road from Paradip to Barbil. Work is in progress from Paradip to Chandikhol, and survey activities are underway from Chandikhol to Badabil. Moreover, the CM added that all industrial and mining areas will get six-lane roads, which will improve connectivity and support steady infrastructure growth across the district.
These projects ensure inclusive development for all residents, positioning Keonjhar as a key contributor to Odisha development and the state’s vision to become a growth engine for the country by 2036.
