The Maharashtra Cabinet, on Saturday, January 17, cleared the estimated 20,000 INR-Crore Mumbai Police Housing Township Project. It aims to provide relief to over 51,000 police personnel. The project will further deliver 40,000–45,000 residential units across 50 Million-SqFt in Mumbai and its suburbs.

The state government will contribute 30% of the funding. Moreover, the remaining 70% will be raised by the Maharashtra State Infrastructure Development Corporation (MSIDC) through loans. Meanwhile, an initial 100 INR-Crore has been sanctioned to prepare feasibility reports and initiate work. The Mumbai Police Housing project addresses the poor condition of existing quarters. Additionally, many of the 22,904 residences date back to the British era, with 3,777 deemed unfit for use. The new township will thus modernize living standards for the force.
