The Center has approved an estimated 10,154 INR-Crore project to construct the third and fourth railway lines between Kasara and Manmad in Maharashtra. The project will expand capacity on one of the busiest rail corridors in the state.

The Kasara–Manmad railway lines spans approximately 131 Km and serves as a critical link between Mumbai and central India. Currently, heavy passenger and freight traffic operates on the existing double line, which often leads to congestion. The approved project will further incorporate 3 major special bridges, 16 large bridges, and 218 small bridges to strengthen structural connectivity. Additionally, authorities will construct 5 railway flyovers to ease rail crossings and improve operational efficiency. The alignment will also pass through 21 tunnels.

With the addition of two new lines, authorities aim to segregate freight and passenger movement. This will improve punctuality and reduce delays. Moreover, the expansion will enhance operational efficiency and allow more trains to run on the corridor. The project will also strengthen connectivity for Nashik and nearby industrial regions. Additionally, it will support smoother freight movement toward ports and logistics hubs.
