High above South Mumbai, Vyom presents a home that engages directly with the sky. Floor-to-ceiling windows bring in soft pastel light, reflecting the tones of the city below. Beyond, the Arabian Sea stretches toward the horizon, where it meets an endless sky. Here, clouds drift at eye level. In a dense city, this home offers a rare quality: a view that remains engaging over time.

Aditi Savani, Founder and Principal Designer of Studio Tattva, describes the 3,000 SqFt penthouse as a space rooted in balance. The design aligns the pastel tones of the exterior environment with carefully placed quirky elements inside. Designed for a young business couple and their parents, the brief focused on creating a home that feels expansive. Simultaneously, it reflects their preference for abstract design and expressive accents.

Entry Sequence and Spatial Planning at Vyom

Vyom

The spatial experience begins with a 20-Ft entryway. This corridor establishes a strong visual introduction. A sculptural chandelier anchors the space above, while abstract planters and bold crimson seating introduce colour and rhythm.

Beyond the entrance, the penthouse divides into two distinct wings. One side leads to the master suite and study. The other accommodates the parents’ and the guest bedrooms. At the center, the living, dining, and breakfast areas open into a unified space. The kitchen sits behind a frosted glass panel, which can retract to integrate the space when required.

Living, Dining and Material Expression

The 12-Ft high ceiling defines the central spaces. This height, uncommon in Mumbai, allows the design to remain restrained. Pastel tones dominate the palette. The interiors, thereby, align with the soft natural light entering through sea-facing windows.

In the living room, a textured wall with an earth-like finish meets crisp white offset panels. Together, they form a balanced backdrop for a sculptural artwork by Nitush Aroosh. The furniture introduces movement through curvilinear forms. These elements also create a sense of visual dynamism. Quirky accents and controlled pops of colour draw attention across the room. A bold graphic rug adds contrast while maintaining harmony with the blue tones outside.

The dining area shifts toward a more refined expression. A restaurant-style layout combines a custom-upholstered sofa with individual chairs. Furthermore, these elements surround a marble-topped table with gold-finished legs. Above, a custom chandelier provides focused illumination. A sculptural Boca do Lobo mirror with gold edging reflects the changing tones of the sea and sky.

Meanwhile, the kitchen sits behind the breakfast counter, which features exotic amazon green marble. An automated frosted glass synchro panel with brass bars conceals the space. Inside, the material palette shifts. Rust-red cabinetry contrasts with white Caesarstone countertops. Spanish tiled flooring introduces texture and variation. As a result, the kitchen presents a distinct yet cohesive identity within the home.

Private Spaces and Interior Language at Vyom

The master bedroom reinforces the concept of living in the sky. The walls further reflect tones of a soft dawn over the Arabian Sea. Upholstery elements introduce subtle blue accents, referencing the horizon outside. A bench near the window creates a pause point within the room. In addition, the TV unit integrates into the wardrobe through a swivel hinge. This feature allows the screen to rotate based on usage.

The guest bedroom adopts a quieter palette. Monochrome greys sit over oak flooring. Curved wooden panels finished in cement lime wash add visual rhythm. Meanwhile, they maintain continuity with the overall design language.

Design Approach

Throughout the residence, the design maintains a balance between stillness and movement. It also negotiates restraint and expressive detail. According to Aditi Savani, the design unfolds with a sense of subtle unpredictability. It does not rely on loud gestures. Instead, it reveals itself gradually through layered details.

In a city where space remains limited, Vyom offers a different experience. It not only rises above the urban fabric. It also establishes a direct connection with the sky.
