The Tamil Nadu government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Hitachi Energy for expansion projects in the state. Under the MoU, Hitachi Energy will invest approximately 1,000 INR-Crore over the next three to five years. The investment will support expansion projects in Porur, Chennai, and Chengalpattu.
The investment covers the expansion of Hitachi Energy Technology Services’ Global Technology and Innovation center (GTIC) in Porur. Additionally, the company will establish a new manufacturing line at Hitachi Energy India’s existing facility in Chengalpattu. The new production line will manufacture semiconductor-based equipment used in High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) technology for long-distance power transmission and grid modernization. Further, the company is setting up the additional line within the existing Chengalpattu facility alongside its current HVDC valve manufacturing operations. According to the state government, the projects are expected to generate around 1,000 high-skilled technology jobs.
