The Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) has cleared several major urban infrastructure proposals during its 152nd Authority Meeting. The approvals mark a significant step toward modernising the city’s transport, sanitation, and commercial facilities.
One of the key projects is the construction of a shaded cycle track and footpath along the Left Parallel Road from Ekamra Kanan Junction to Hatiasuni. The corridor witnesses heavy pedestrian and cyclist movement but lacks shaded infrastructure. Additionally, the new track aims to promote safe, comfortable, and sustainable non-motorised transport.

Furthermore, the Authority approved a 10 KLD Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) at Drain No. 4 near Vani Vihar on a pilot basis. The project will improve wastewater management and enhance environmental sustainability. Moreover, the redevelopment of the Priyadarshini Market Complex at CRP Square was sanctioned. The plan seeks to modernise the ageing commercial hub and provide better facilities for traders and visitors.
The Authority also gave the nod for multiple Town Planning Schemes. These cover villages such as Malipada, Daspur, Bijipur, Baliapada, Kasipur, Bhagabanpur, and Patrapada. The schemes are expected to streamline urban expansion and support planned growth. The approvals reflect BDA’s commitment to sustainable urban planning and improve the overall infrastructure across Bhubaneswar.
