The Union Government has approved an estimated 414.16 INR-Crore infrastructure project for construction of an elevated flyover and service roads on NH-66 near the New Mangalore Port in Karnataka. Authorities announced the approval on Sunday, May 24. The project will improve cargo connectivity between Baikampady and KIOCL Junction in Dakshina Kannada district.
The project will cover a 3.075 Km stretch on NH-66, which includes 1.520 Km six-lane elevated flyover construction under the EPC model. Additionally, authorities will develop 5.825 Km of service roads on both sides of the highway. The National Highways Authority of India has initiated the tender process for the project. The New Mangalore Port Authority will provide additional land and financial support required for implementation. Separately, authorities have also approved underpasses at Baikampady and Kuloor Junction at a cost of 11.63 INR-Crore, and construction work is currently underway.

The corridor serves as a key route for export and import cargo movement linked to the New Mangalore Port Authority. Once completed, the NH-66 flyover project near New Mangalore Port will improve traffic flow, enhance road safety and strengthen industrial connectivity in Dakshina Kannada district.
