UPMRC floats 1,878 INR-Crore tender for Lucknow metro underground stretch

Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) has floated a tender worth an estimated 1,877.89 INR-Crore for the underground section of the Lucknow Metro Phase 1B project. The tender covers the construction of seven underground metro stations and tunnel works on the East-West Corridor between Charbagh and Vasant Kunj. According to the tender schedule, technical bids will open on July 28. UPMRC expects to complete the underground section within 36 months from the commencement of work.

The project covers the underground stretch from Charbagh to Chowk as part of the proposed 11.16 Km corridor. The scope includes underground stations at Charbagh, Gautam Buddha Marg, Aminabad, Pandeyganj, City Railway Station, Medical Chauraha and Chowk. Additionally, the contract includes tunnel construction and an approximately 350 M-long ramp beyond Chowk Metro Station to connect the underground section with the elevated corridor. UPMRC has already floated tenders for the elevated section, which comprises five elevated stations. The Lucknow Metro Phase 1B project carries an estimated investment of 5,801 INR-Crore.

The Lucknow Metro underground stretch will strengthen metro connectivity between Charbagh and Vasant Kunj. Additionally, the corridor will improve access to Old Lucknow, including the Medical College area. UPMRC plans to execute the underground and elevated sections simultaneously to enable the commissioning of the entire East-West Corridor.
