Slated for completion in 2.5 years, the Middle Vaitarna Dam project is expected to save 12.6 INR-Crore annually for the civic body. Furthermore, it will power Mumbai’s Pise pumping station and Panjrapur WTP complex. This will further ensure an efficient water supply for nearly 60% of the city’s population.
Additionally, BMC plans to construct a 13 Km transmission line to connect the Vaitarna dam project to the MSETCL power grid. With an estimated investment of 247 INR-Crore, the project will follow a Build, Operate, and Transfer (BOT) model for long-term sustainability.
