Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), the hospitality arm of the Tata Group, announced a new project under its Taj brand. The company will open a second hotel, Taj Chennai, on the East Coast Road. This project marks a greenfield development, expanding IHCL’s strong presence in the Chennai market. IHCL already operates the well-known Taj Fisherman’s Cove in the same region.
Spanning 13 Acres of beachfront land, the hotel will feature 151 keys with direct sea views. The Taj Chennai property will include an all-day dining restaurant, two speciality outlets, and a bar. Moreover, the hotel will offer extensive event facilities with banquet halls of 10,000 and 5,300 SqFt. Multiple meeting rooms and large beachfront lawns will support conventions and celebrations.

Suma Venkatesh, Executive Vice President – Real Estate & Development, IHCL, explained the city’s growing demand for quality hospitality. Consequently, the new Taj Chennai project aims to capture this diverse customer base. With this addition, IHCL’s portfolio in the city will grow to 16 hotels, including six under development. This initiative reflects IHCL’s continued expansion strategy in India’s key hospitality markets.
