Adani Group has become the lowest bidder for the estimated 1,700 INR-Crore Mithi River rejuvenation (Package 3), following its Dharavi slum redevelopment work. The project will be carried out by Adani Transport in partnership with Ashoka Buildcon Limited and Akshaya Infraproject Pvt Ltd. It aims to strengthen flood-control measures along the river. The work includes installing gate-pump assemblies at 18 outfalls and building a major sewerage pumping station near Mahim.
The work covers an 18 Km stretch from the CST bridge at Kurla to Mahim, where the river meets the Arabian Sea. The project will follow the Design, Build, and Operate model, and the team aims to complete it within 48 months, excluding the monsoon season. Under the larger Mithi River rejuvenation plan, officials have now forwarded this package for administrative approval. Once the Environmental Clearances come through, the authorities plan to fast-track the work next year. Earlier improvements include clearing slums near Filterpada, constructing retaining walls, and laying sewer lines to a new treatment plant at Powai.

The project aims to fully restore the river and strengthen flood management. It will also enhance civic infrastructure and improve operational efficiency. With the Adani-led SPV managing the work, the Mithi River will become cleaner, safer, and more resilient. This comprehensive rejuvenation will benefit both residents and the city’s ecosystem.
