Bhilai has begun a major environmental upgrade with the construction of a new sewage treatment plant designed to handle 150 MLD. The project carries an estimated cost of 145 INR-Crore. The Municipal Corporation has also reserved 44.55 INR-Crore for 15 years of operation and maintenance to ensure steady performance. This new facility will treat wastewater from key city drains. It will also support Bhilai’s plan to improve its sewage treatment system and create cleaner, healthier waterways for residents.
The project site near Kachandur village moved forward after senior officials inspected the area and reviewed the preparations. Work has now begun with a planned completion period of 24 months. The new facility will treat wastewater from Kosa Nala and Telha Nala, helping improve the region’s environmental quality. The treated water will also support irrigation and other useful applications, offering long-term benefits to the community.
