JSW Group is setting up a new unmanned aerial systems (military drone) manufacturing facility with a 90 US$-Million (850 INR-Crore) investment. This move will strengthen the city’s role in advancing military-grade drone capabilities across the Hyderabad defence ecosystem. The investment also supports the region’s growth as a center for next-generation drone innovation

The upcoming facility will span an anticipated 16 Acres at the Maheshwaram electronics manufacturing cluster and will commence operations by the last quarter of 2026. Designed for scale, the unit will manufacture up to 300 V-BAT drones annually. These drones are known for their VTOL capability and long-endurance ISR performance, further strengthening Hyderabad’s defence technology landscape.

The project is a key part of JSW’s broader 1,200 INR-Crore defence investment strategy. It also supports Telangana’s goal of becoming a national defence innovation hub. With strong production capabilities and technology transfer from Shield AI, the JSW military drone facility will help India expand its indigenous UAS capacity. The facility will meet the rising demand for unmanned aerial systems. It will create over 300 high-value jobs and strengthen the local supply chain for advanced drone manufacturing. This effort further boosts the growth of military-grade drone production in Hyderabad.
