Goa Public Works Department (PWD) has submitted a major infrastructure expansion plan to the Union Government. The package, worth an estimated 7,076.9 INR-Crore, was presented to Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, on Tuesday, January 6.
The proposed Goa Highway and Bridge Projects include several long-pending and high-impact works across the state. Among the largest is the Borim bridge with approach roads, estimated at 1,235 INR-Crore. Another key project is the Cuncolim bypass on National Highway 66, pegged at 1,938 INR-Crore.

The PWD also proposed major 4-laning works. These include the Goa–Karnataka border stretch at Mollem, costing 2,497 INR-Crore, and the Mollem–Khandepar section, estimated at 1,066 INR-Crore. Additionally, the Arlem eastern bypass, valued at 600 INR-Crore, has a completed Detailed Project Report (DPR).
Officials emphasized that the Goa Highway and Bridge Projects are critical for easing traffic congestion and improving regional connectivity. The package further reflects the state’s push for faster approvals and central support to upgrade its transport infrastructure.
