The Maharashtra Cabinet Infrastructure Committee, on Tuesday, January 27, approved the Metro connecting Mumbai and Navi Mumbai airports. This 35 Km corridor will link Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport with Navi Mumbai International Airport. The project, costing an estimated 22,862 INR-Crore, will improve regional connectivity and ease travel between the two hubs.
The corridor will feature 20 stations, with six underground and 14 elevated. Land acquisition will cover approximately 30.7 Hectares (Ha) at an estimated cost of 388 INR-Crore. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis directed officials to finish land acquisition and approvals within six months. Construction will then be completed within three years.

Of the 35 Km line, 9.25 Km will run underground from Mumbai Airport Terminal 2 to Ghatkopar East. The remaining 24.63 Km will be elevated, stretching from Ghatkopar West to Navi Mumbai Airport Terminal 2. The Metro connecting Mumbai and Navi Mumbai airports will cut travel time, reduce congestion, and provide seamless access between the two airports. It will also strengthen Maharashtra’s long-term urban mobility strategy.
