Vedanta secures land allotment for 1.28 Lakh INR-Crore Dhenkanal Project

Vedanta Aluminium has received land allotment of over 1,447 Acres from the Odisha Government for its proposed project in Dhenkanal district. The allotment letter was handed over during a recent business summit in Rourkela, marking a major step in the company’s expansion plans.

The Vedanta Dhenkanal project will include a 3 Million Tonnes Per Annum (MTPA) aluminium smelter and a 4,900 MW captive power plant. The investment, valued at an estimated 1.28 Lakh INR-Crore, was approved by the High-Level Clearance Authority in June last year.

Currently, Vedanta’s total aluminium capacity stands at 3 Million-Tonnes. With the new Dhenkanal facility, Odisha is expected to further strengthen its position as a global aluminium hub. The project highlights the state’s commitment to industrial growth and large-scale investments.
