The Thiruvananthapuram General Hospital block project commenced with the laying of its foundation stone on Monday, March 9, in Kerala. The project involves the construction of a multi-storey hospital block at the Government General Hospital campus with an estimated investment of 137 INR-Crore. The project will be implemented through the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB).
The proposed development will include a 4 storey hospital building equipped with modern medical infrastructure. The ground floor will house a reception area, trauma care unit, general outpatient department, ARV clinic, and pharmacy. The second floor will accommodate ICU wards, seminar rooms, and e-health facilities. The third floor will include laboratory facilities, a blood bank, and specialty OP clinics. Meanwhile, the fourth floor will feature a chemotherapy ward, operation theater, and dental OP. The project will also include a service block with an AC plant, medical gas unit, and laundry facilities, along with 10 elevators for patient movement.

Once completed, the Thiruvananthapuram General Hospital block project is expected to significantly strengthen public healthcare infrastructure in the state capital. The new building will help address space constraints at the historic hospital and support the delivery of modern medical services to a growing patient population.
