The Hebbal Short Tunnel project has officially begun after Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar laid the foundation stone for an estimated 1,130 INR-Crore infrastructure project in Bengaluru.

The Hebbal Short Tunnel will cover 2.2 Km and will feature a 3-lane twin tunnel from Hebbal Junction to the Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries University. Furthermore, the project aims to improve traffic flow at one of the city’s busiest junctions and strengthen Bengaluru’s transport network.

In addition, the Bangalore Development Authority will fully fund the Hebbal Short Tunnel under the EPC model. The project will use the cut-and-cover method and will remain toll-free for commuters. Moreover, the tunnel will reduce pressure on roads beneath the Hebbal Flyover and ease congestion in Ganganagar, Sanjay Nagar, and R.T. Nagar. Meanwhile, the project is expected to be completed within two years, and construction may begin within a month after soil testing ends.
