The Railway Land Development Authority (RLDA) has floated the third tender for the redevelopment of Vijayawada railway station in Andhra Pradesh. The project carries an estimated cost of 661.11 INR-Crore. It will be executed under the Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) model through a public-private partnership (PPP). RLDA reissued the tender after the previous two bidding rounds failed to attract any bidders. The last date for bid submission is August 18.

The Vijayawada railway station redevelopment project aims to transform the station into an airport-like transit facility. The upgraded station is designed to meet passenger demand over the next 40 years. To improve bidder participation, RLDA has revised several tender conditions. The updated provisions allow the concessionaire to modify the master plan and floor plans during the detailed design stage, subject to Railway approval. However, the mandatory built-up area must remain unchanged. RLDA will hold a pre-bid meeting with prospective bidders at its Secunderabad office.

The Vijayawada railway station redevelopment project will modernize one of the busiest railway stations in the region. Additionally, the revised tender conditions may improve developer participation in the bidding process. Once awarded, the project will support long-term station modernization under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
